What each subject covers

Speaking (1:1)Pictures and stories to get them talking. With only the teacher and the child in the room, there is less falling silent for fear of getting it wrong.
Reading (1:1)They read material suited to their age and put it back into their own words.
Writing (1:1)From one sentence to one paragraph. What they learn during the day gets written down the same day.
Vocabulary (1:1)Starting with the words they will actually use at camp — activities, meals, talking with friends.
Listening (1:4)Four of them listen and answer together, at the pace of children the same age.
Grammar (1:4)Learned inside sentences rather than memorised as rules.
Discussion (1:8)Eight of them get together and exchange opinions. It is where they try out, in front of a group, what they learned in the 1:1 lessons.
Guardian lessons (optional)If a guardian enrols, they follow a separate adult conversation course — Speaking 1·2, Free Speaking, Daily Vocabulary and a group discussion. You may also simply come along without taking lessons.
Peak and off-peak
Peak
Activities are part of the programme, on a schedule that starts the week you arrive. Costs paid locally are separate.
Off-peak
Priced without activities, on a two-week minimum. Anything you do want, you book through the travel desk on campus and pay for by the item.
Travel desk on campus
Weekend trips and activities are booked inside the school. No outside agency to find, and the child and the guardian travel on the same plan.
Mandatory English Only Policy

The English-only policy applies to the child. Guardians are not bound by it.

Frequently asked

Does the guardian have to take lessons too?

On the Family Camp it is optional. A guardian can enrol for lessons, or the child can study while the guardian stays with them.

When can we start?

Outside the peak season it starts every Monday; in peak season it opens only on the set dates listed above.

My child is still quite young — will that be all right?

We confirm the age requirements and how the classes are made up for that session at the consultation. Tell us your child's age and how much English they have had, and we will find the right arrangement with you.
